Potential Points in Axie Infinity Origin
Potential Points is a new system in Origin that determine what charms you are able to equip on your Axie. Points are based on an Axie's parts and body class.
Each Axie has a fixed amount of Potential Points based on its parts and class. Some charms cost 1 point, while rarer charms can cost up to 5 potential points.
For example, this Axie has 12 aqua potential points, and 1 reptile point. But wait, those points add up to 13. Shouldn't the max points be 7?
Potential Points and parts are not exactly 1 to 1 because of a purity bonus.
If an Axie has 3 or more body parts of the same class, it will receive bonus Potential Points for that class. Here's a chart of the bonuses.

Purity Bonus in Axie Infinity Origin |
So, in my previous example, that Axie had 6 aqua parts, and 1 reptile part.
6 (aqua parts) + 6 (purity bonus) = 12 aqua potential points
1 (reptile part) + 0 (purity bonus) = 1 reptile potential point
A 7/7 Axie will max out at 15 potential points.
A charm's Potential Point cost can be seen at the top left of the charm. When equipping a charm, the amount will be deducted from that Axie’s Potential Points until it is removed.

charm's Potential Point |
This Potential Point and bonus system makes it so that higher purity Axies can equip stronger charms, but it sacrifices ability variance and versatility.
So, when planning your Axie teams, (1) you might opt for a 7/7 Axie so that you can use 3 mystic charms.
Or, (2) you might want an Axie with a bunch of different class parts in order to achieve a very specific moveset with high synergy, while sacrificing the ability to equip the best charms.
And that's how Potential Points, charms, and part purity work together. This should answer one of the biggest questions going into Origin.
However, keep in mind that a lot of this can and probably will change as we gather feedback during the alpha.
How is Potential Points Computed for Dusks/Mechs/Dawns?
In the same way. Your mechs will have 1 mech potential point cause of the body. Meaning they won’t be able to use any mech charms.
Potential Points Computation Example
6 points for reptile parts
+ 1 for being reptile class, then you get the +8 bonus
You got your 15!
